🔹 What Is a Signing Group?
A Signing Group allows multiple applications to be signed together. One application acts as the head (or parent), and others are added as child applications. Certain fields are locked to ensure consistency across the group.
🧭 How to Use the Signing Group Feature (Step-by-Step)
This guide walks you through creating and managing Signing Groups for applications, including how to start a new group or join an existing one.
✅ Step 1: Create or Join a Signing Group
When you select “Signing Group” from the ellipses menu on an application, you’ll see the Group Application dialog with two options:
🆕 Option 1: Create a New Application Group Using This Application as a Base
Use this when you want to start a brand-new signing group.
The current application becomes the head (or parent) of the group.
A new Signing Group Applications panel will appear on the overview page.
You can then add child applications to this group.
How it looks in the system:
🖼️ Appears as a radio button labeled:
“Create a new application group using this application as a base”
🔗 Option 2: Add This Application to an Existing Group
Use this when you want to include the current application in a group that already exists.
The application must be the same type as the group’s head application.
You’ll see a typeahead field labeled “Signing Group*” to search and select the target group.

➕ Step 2: Add Applications to the Group
Once a group is created, you can add new applications:
In the Signing Group panel, click the green “+” icon.
Choose one of the following:
Blank Application: Leave “Copy this application form” unchecked.
Copy of Main Application: Check “Copy this application form.”
A new application will be created and automatically added to the group.
📄 Step 3: Review and Manage Group Applications
In the Signing Group panel, you’ll see all child applications listed.
Use the ellipsis menu next to each child application to:
Duplicate the application.
Remove it from the group
🔒 Application Form Behavior in Signing Groups
Child applications inherit locked fields from the parent.
You cannot modify parent principals or intermediary businesses in child apps.
You can add additional principals to child applications.
📦 Packaging for Signatures
Before sending for signatures, ensure:
All applications are 100% complete.
Required documents (e.g., Canadian Code of Conduct) are generated.
All Canadian applications are set to the same language.
If any of these conditions aren’t met, you’ll see a warning and won’t be able to proceed.
✍️ Signing the Group Application
The signing portal shows group-specific messaging.
Each application must be reviewed before signing.
Final signed document includes:
Unique data for each application.
A shared MPA page.
A consistent group identifier in the footer.
🔐 Maintaining Group Integrity
After signing:
You cannot add new applications.
Removing or demoting any application will:
Delete its signed document.
Reset its status to “New.”
Demoting the head application affects all child applications.
⚠️ Failure Cases
Applications that are not Elavon US or Canada will not show the Signing Group option.
